Tucson
Tucson is situated in the Sonoran Desert at approximately 2300 ft. elevation. The Santa Cruz River runs through Tucson but now has become a dry river bed most of the year. Protected by five mountains ranges, Tucson and the surrounding area make for a beautiful backdrop. The Santa Catalina and Tortolita Mountains are situated to the north. The Santa Rita Mountains are situated to the south. The Tucson Mountains are situated to the west and host some of the most beautiful sunsets one will ever see. The Rincon Mountains are situated to the east and have some of the best trails for horseback riding. Understanding the position of the mountain ranges will help you understand our communities and your interest in living in one of them.
Downtown
Downtown Tucson has a mini hustle and bustle to the court house and municipal buildings. Renovation has been in the plans for several years, hoping to bring more night life to this area. Hotel Congress, the Fox Theatre and the Rialto are the music venues for the downtown area. The Tucson Convention Center provides space for large events. Surrounding this area are small pockets of historic residential areas which include Armory Park, Barrio Historico and 4th Avenue District.
Central & Midtown
Running through Central Tucson is the University of Arizona and its Medical Center.
Many neighborhoods are primarily an area for student housing with quaint Santa Fe and Bungalow style homes. The prestigious Colonia Solana and Sam Hughes Historic District have preserved the architecture history of Tucson. Along side these areas are Blenman, and Hedrick Acreage which offer can offer the same traditional architecture on a smaller scale.
South Tucson
The south side of Tucson is more industrial and is surrounded by Davis Monthan Air Force Base, the Tucson International Airport and Aviation Parkway. This area continues to develop planned housing communities for those supporting the aviation industry.
East and Southeast Tucson
The financial and corporate presence in these areas support the structure of Tucson as a whole. Looking onto the Rincon and Santa Rita Mountains, developed planned communities have made a mark in this area. Ample space has attracted the horse lover. Rita Ranch, the Lakecrest neighborhoods and Tanque Verde communities provide a semi-rural approach to Tucson living. Civano, a unique planned community demonstrates an eco-friendly community supporting modern, colorful Santa Fe style homes.
North & Northeast Tucson
The north part of Tucson begins at the Ft. Lowell Historic District. This area gathers the old and new, blending a contemporary and historic community. Small businesses, coupled with town homes, bungalows and apartment complexes also provide a solid housing base for those desiring city living.
Northeast Tucson blends the Santa Catalina and Rincon Mountain Ranges. Architecture in this area combines western style, contemporary developed communities and private hillside luxurious style homes. Unique to this area is Sabino Canyon Recreational Area hosting some of the best hiking trails in the area.
Northwest Tucson
The northwest side of Tucson is nestled between the Catalina and Tucson Mountains, This side of town has built its reputation for hosting easy access shopping and strip malls. One of the oldest is Casa Adobes. Its easy access to Interstate 10 and downtown make this area valuable for commuting. Tucson National Golf Course makes it home in the Northwest. The gated community surrounding Tucson National has built quality homes in the tradition of Tucson architecture. Ironwood Estates is an up and coming community of luxury homes. Many of the homes are situated on large lots with views of both the Catalina and Tucson Mountains. Linda Vista Estates, Countryside Terrace, and Hartman Vistas are a few of the developed tract housing homes incorporating the northwest area.
Catalina Foothills
Just north of the north Tucson area, lies the Catalina Foothills Community. Upscale shopping, restaurants, and art galleries support some of the most expensive homes in Tucson. Homes in this area look onto the City lights and Catalina Mountains. Communities include La Paloma, Pontatoc Canyon Estates, Pima Canyon Estates, and Ventana Canyon.
